Translating Azorean Coastal Whaling

Coastal whaling was introduced to the Azores by New Englanders, and the earliest whaling vessels to ply the waters of the Azores were most likely from Nantucket and New Bedford. This lecture, with UMass-Amherst professor Francisco Fagundes, looks at the representation of coastal whaling in the classic Azorean novel Stormy Isles, of which his English translation will be published in July 2019.
